POST
Retrieve an owned, unexpired image. Returns a PNG as base64 in data with its mimeType, or native image content over MCP. Images up to 8 MiB are supported.

Authentication and permissions

string
required
Send a VoiceCheap API key in this header. Authorization: Bearer with the same API key is also supported. OAuth access tokens are accepted only by MCP, not by this REST endpoint.
Required permissions: images:read. An active paid subscription is required. Permissions do not change team roles, resource ownership, media credits, or plan limits.

Parameters

string
required
Generation ID returned by a generation or history action.Pattern: ^[A-Za-z0-9_-]{1,128}$.
The JSON Schema below preserves the exact field names, nested types, defaults, bounds, and accepted values exposed by discovery. Additional cross-field rules are listed in the operation notes.

Request examples

Replace example resource identifiers and media keys with values returned for your account. Keep the request identifier stable when retrying the same mutation.

Response

A successful first execution returns HTTP 200 with the operation result under data. A replay may return saved request state instead. The example shows one supported response, not every optional field. The generated PNG returned as a base64 string in data, accompanied by generationId and mimeType. This is a JSON object, not a binary HTTP body or download URL.

Result fields

Operation notes

  • Requires images:read. generationId must contain 1–128 ASCII letters, digits, underscores, or hyphens.
  • This action uses the connected user’s own creations and uploads, including when the credential is connected in a team context.
  • Only a completed, owned app image with a stored file and expiresAt in the future is downloadable. Account images expire seven days after creation.
  • The decoded PNG must be at most 8 MiB (8,388,608 bytes). Base64 encoding makes the JSON string larger than the binary file.
  • Decode data as base64 to save the PNG. There is no data: URL prefix. Over MCP the server emits native image content and a text block containing generationId instead of this ordinary JSON result.

Usage

Each successful invocation consumes one monthly API/MCP call. Media credits and the operation’s own generation allowances also apply.
