POST
Retrieve the original or translated transcript as JSON, SRT or VTT, with optional speaker labels.

Authentication and permissions

string
required
Send a VoiceCheap API key in this header. Authorization: Bearer with the same API key is also supported. OAuth access tokens are accepted only by MCP, not by this REST endpoint.
Required permissions: transcription:read. An active paid subscription is required. Permissions do not change team roles, resource ownership, media credits, or plan limits.

Request examples

Replace example resource identifiers and media keys with values returned for your account. Keep the request identifier stable when retrying the same mutation.

Response

A successful first execution returns HTTP 200 with the operation result under data. A replay may return saved request state instead. The example shows one supported response, not every optional field. Returns a formatted transcript object. JSON contains format, transcript and contentType; SRT/VTT also include content and fileExtension.

Result fields

outputFormat srt; source translated, targetLanguage english, includeSpeakerLabels true.

Returns the translated transcript and SRT content with speaker prefixes.
HTTP 200

outputFormat vtt; source translated, targetLanguage english, includeSpeakerLabels true.

Returns the translated transcript and WEBVTT content with voice labels.
HTTP 200

Operation notes

  • source defaults to original, outputFormat to json, and includeSpeakerLabels to false. A translated source requires targetLanguage.
  • For translated transcripts, the newest language work matching targetLanguage is selected. There is no workId or translatedVersionId input for this action.
  • SRT and VTT exports remain JSON action results: content contains the subtitle text, and transcript remains available in the same object. This handler does not return a raw downloadable response.
  • includeSpeakerLabels only affects text export cues: SRT uses Speaker N: prefixes and VTT uses voice tags.
  • Stored transcript words, when present, expose index, text, speaker and optional confidence; no word-level timestamps are invented. Translated segments may expose finalSpeedFactor when generated speech timing exists.

Usage

Each successful invocation consumes one monthly API/MCP call. Media credits and the operation’s own generation allowances also apply.
